• Explorations changed my life for the better. I was given opportunities that my home district would not. I made lifelong friends and I am still in touch with many of the staff that guided me through a tumultuous time in my life, for which I am forever grateful. I cannot recommend this school enough. • Explorations is uniquely structured in such a way that each student's individual needs are recognized, while finding creative ways to teach standardized curriculum. Many of us walked in begrudgingly, after feeling overlooked, ostracized or otherwise devalued by our hometown high school. It's pretty incredible how those kinds of beginnings can lend themselves to complete transformations. Although each individual's journey may look a little bit different, I can confidently say that Explorations is a school that allowed us all to find ourselves and become authentically invested in our own futures. • My Explorations diploma means I had a high school experience where I was seen, heard, and cared for by my teachers and staff. It means I didn’t have to go through high school being afraid to walk through the doors every morning. It means my teachers treated me like an individual person and helped me build life long coping skills. I wasn’t pushed to get a diploma. I was pushed to be the best version of myself. Explorations taught me that I was stronger than I could’ve thought, emotionally and physically. • The value of my Explorations diploma is all about opportunity. It did not make my diploma any more or less valuable in a literal sense. In an emotional sense, it made it more valuable to me because of the experiences I had along the way and where it allowed me to end up. I really believe it changed the course of my life for the better and offered me so much that I don’t think I could have gotten at a “traditional” school. This was all because of the care each teacher at Explorations offered and because of that I was able to get where I needed to be. With that, I could take my diploma to higher education and will be graduating with two degrees this semester. I think an Explorations diploma, like any high school diploma, is what you make of it during your time throughout high school and after. • Explorations Charter School taught me to push myself and be true to my ideals and the rest just fell into place! I wouldn’t be where I am today without it. That being said, my diploma means the world to me because it represents my growth and the start of my journey to be who I am today.
